Whether or not a person is a believer in God and in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, it is a given fact that he or she has questions and needs encouragement from time to time. The thing is that many people often keep such thoughts, concerns, and, generally, things that bother them with regards to their faith to themselves. As a result, such disquietude could lead to doubts; uncertainties could lead to disillusionment; and, disenchantment could eventually lead to disbelief.
Pondering Faith is a ministry that was created in 2020 with the intention of helping strengthen believers in their faith by addressing issues that are relevant to their possible queries and incertitude as well as their spiritual, emotional, and psychological responses to the current affairs of life, all within the context of what the Bible says. This is based on the understanding that God, through His living Word, the Holy Scriptures, is the final authority on all things for faith and practice. Pondering Faith believes that “all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking correcting, and training in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
Our hope in Pondering Faith is that through the content that we deliver through any form or platforms, would draw both Christians and non-Christians to Jesus Christ, and that they would put their full faith in Him who is the Source of life and the Rock of our salvation.
Tenets of Faith
We believe that there is One God who is the Creator of all things that is seen and unseen, and who is united in three divine Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—co-existing, co-equal, and co-eternal.
We believe that Jesus Christ who is truly God and truly human is the sure, sufficient, and unique revelation of God to mankind, and that there is no other Name by which we can be saved and have eternal life except through His.
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of Mary while she was a virgin, died on the cross, was buried, and was resurrected back to life after three days, whereby He reconciled mankind back to God from estrangement from Him because of sin, has redeemed us from the power of evil, and has saved us from eternal damnation.
We believe that the redemption and salvation offered by God to mankind comes only through repentance from sin and believing and accepting the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, which is solely available by grace through faith, not through any good work that we do, and which is a free gift of God whereby we can receive new life in Him.
We believe that the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live in righteousness and moral purity and that He imparts spiritual gifts for the edification of the Body of Christ and that these gifts are vital for the mission of the Church.
We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, which is inspired by God in its entirety (plenary) and up to its very words (verbal) in the original manuscript, truthful in everything that it affirms and teaches (inerrant), and is the final rule for faith and practice, as established by Jesus’ own teachings and His attitude toward its total truthfulness and supreme authority.
We believe that being disciples of Jesus Christ means serving Him as Lord in every area of our lives, secular as well as spiritual, public as well as private, in deeds as well as words, and in every moment of our days on earth, always reaching out as He did to those who are lost, as well as to the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, the socially despised, and being faithful stewards of creation and our fellow-creatures.
We believe in blessed hope that Jesus Christ will personally come again, that the dead will be bodily resurrected, and that God Himself will judge both the living and the dead—the righteous in Christ, who is the Church, into everlasting life and the wicked into eternal damnation—leading to a consummation of history and the fulfilment of an undying kingdom that comes only by the power of God.
We believe that we as followers of Jesus Christ are called to love and worship Him, to love His family of believers through fellowshipping with them, to grow to be like Him through discipleship, to serve Him by ministering to the needs of others in His Name, and to share His Gospel with those who do not know Him yet and make them His disciples.
About the Founder
Mon Lizardo came to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of His life when he was in college during the late 70s. Since then, having moved his place of residence a couple of times, he has gotten involved with more than one church over a period of four decades. He has also served in different ministries, in the pastoral staff a couple of a number of churches that he was involved with, and is now serving as an Elder at a church in the Philippines where he has been attending for the past 17 years. He started with a few post graduate units at the Asian Theological Seminary, which he has not been able to continue as of present being also heavily involved in his secular work as a Digital Marketing Consultant.
His main area of ministry was in Music and Worship, which he served in for more than two decades, but at some point this completely shifted into preaching and media and communications. Pondering Faith is a product of what Mon believes is God’s prodding in his heart to start a means to help believers in Jesus Christ who may need encouragement and affirmation of the spiritual conviction that they espouse and provide a venue to spur them on to think, to understand, and to live out their faith in Christ.
